Tuaropaki is the result of a 1952 amalgamation of lands owned by members of the seven Mokai hapu - Ngati Parekaawa, Ngati Te Kohera, Ngati Wairangi, Ngati Whaita, Ngati Moekino, Ngati Haa and Ngati Tarakaiahi. These hapu have tribal affiliations to both Ngati Tuwharetoa and Ngati Raukawa. The Trust administers the Tuaropaki share register. There are currently 1,847 owners with a total shareholding of 16,752 shares. Successions are recorded on the Trust's database upon receipt of orders from the Maori Land Court. There is continued effort to determine unknown addresses in order to enable communication with owners and pay out distributions. 1,247 owner’s addresses are recorded in the Trust’s database, with 32.5% or 600 owners whose addresses remain unknown.
